Effort as a key metric.

I like thinking in terms of inputs, processes, and outputs.   Cooking is the best example: ingredients, what's done with them, and the result.  

Inputs, processes, outputs.  

One thing I've been struggling with is improving my writing.  It feels like there is no progress.  No improved output.   It only took a minute of conscious thought that I was not paying attention to, or even measuring, my main input: my effort.  

Before we write off our processes as faulty because of our shitty outputs, let's honestly ask ourselves about our inputs.   Are we actually giving what it takes?  

Applies to life, relationships, fitness, lifting, business, etc.
